Fairphone Begins US Sales With New Repairable Phone

Fairphone has officially launched its latest smartphone, the Fairphone 6 Plus, in the United States, marking the company's first direct sales effort in the country. The device is available for $649.99 through Fairphone's website and Amazon.

The Fairphone 6 Plus represents a minor hardware refresh but a significant market expansion for the company. Previously, Fairphones were available in the US exclusively through a partnership with Murena, which offered devices pre-loaded with the privacy-focused /e/OS. This new direct-to-consumer channel allows users to purchase the phone unlocked without the mandatory inclusion of a third-party operating system.

The unlocked phone supports both T-Mobile and AT&T networks. In Europe, the Fairphone 6 Plus is priced at €649, a €50 increase from the previous year's model.

Fairphone emphasizes modularity and repairability in its devices, aiming to extend product lifespans and reduce electronic waste. This US launch expands access to their sustainable technology approach for American consumers.
