FAMAR, a European contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) in the pharmaceutical sector, has appointed Bruce Vielle as its new Chief Executive Officer. The appointment is effective August 3, 2026. Vielle succeeds interim CEO Riku Rautsola, who has led the company since autumn 2025.
Vielle brings extensive experience in leading complex, multi-site manufacturing organizations. Most recently, he served as CEO of Synerlab Group and its successor, Meribel Pharma Solutions, leading 2,000 employees across 13 manufacturing sites in France, Spain, and Sweden. Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer at animal health company Vétoquinol and held site leadership roles at Unither.
The appointment comes as FAMAR continues to invest in new technologies and capabilities, including expansion of its sterile offering with new fill-finish capacity in Germany. The company serves demanding pharmaceutical, biotech, and medtech customers.
FAMAR's shareholder, MidEuropa, has reiterated its commitment to the company's growth strategy. "We are very pleased to welcome Bruce to FAMAR," said Peter Prock, Chairman of FAMAR. "He is a proven CDMO leader with a strong track record in operational execution, sterile manufacturing, and value creation, the experience FAMAR needs as we invest in new capabilities." Vielle stated he is "delighted and energised" to join FAMAR, seeing "significant opportunity" for the company and its customers.
