FAO Names Cambodian Cooperative Leader Set Hach as Agrifood Systems Hero
The UN Food and Agriculture Organization has recognized Set Hach, chair of a Heifer-supported agricultural cooperative in Cambodia, for her contributions to local food security.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has officially included Set Hach, a Cambodian agricultural leader, in its list of 100 Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems. Hach serves as the chairwoman of an agricultural cooperative supported by the nonprofit organization Heifer International.
This recognition highlights the role of smallholder farmers in regional food stability. Hach has focused her work on organizing local producers to improve market access and implement more sustainable farming practices within the Cambodian agricultural sector.
The FAO initiative aims to showcase women who manage to overcome systemic barriers to drive economic growth in rural areas. By supporting cooperative models, the project seeks to move subsistence farming toward commercial viability.
Heifer International, which provides technical assistance and resources to such cooperatives, noted that Hach’s leadership has been instrumental in scaling the cooperative's operations. Her work underscores the ongoing efforts to integrate local producers into broader supply chains.
