Farm Watt Secures ₹32.5 Crore for Biomass Network Expansion

Indian biotech startup Farm Watt has secured ₹32.5 crore (approximately $3.3 million) in a funding round co-led by India Angel Networks' VC fund IAN Alpha Fund and Zerodha's startup investment arm Rainmatter.

The company, which converts agricultural waste into clean energy, plans to use the funds to expand its biomass collection network by building new aggregation hubs. A portion of the funds will also support machinery development, supply chain strengthening, and new talent acquisition.

Founded in 2023, Farm Watt operates biomass aggregation hubs in rural India, purchasing crop residue from farmers for processing into products like biogas, biochar, and biomass pellets.

The business focuses on reducing agricultural waste by supplying it to compressed biogas (CBG) plants that generate localized, renewable energy. Farm Watt's biochar also aims to improve soil health and promote eco-friendly cultivation.

Farm Watt intends to expand its operations across 11 states and eventually develop its own CBG, bio-pellet, and biochar plants to establish a fully integrated circular bioeconomy platform.
