FAUN introduces refuse collection vehicle body made from recycled materials

FAUN Group has introduced the reNew VARIOPRESS, a refuse collection vehicle body designed for maximum use of recycled materials. The initiative, led by REMONDIS subsidiary TSR in collaboration with FAUN, Daimler Truck, and over 30 other partners, aims to advance circular economy principles within the automotive sector.

The new body design can incorporate up to 88% recycled steel in components such as the container, tailgate, and discharge plate. The steel originates from low-CO2 electric arc furnace production. FAUN states this approach combines their established quality with responsible material sourcing. The current pilot vehicle demonstrates a 39% actual recycled content.

Other parts of the vehicle also feature recycled materials. For instance, the wheel arch is constructed from 92% recycled thermoplastic. The control element carrier is made from nearly 99% recycled thermoplastic, illustrating the sustainable reuse of plastic components.

The project's sustainability claims have been verified by TÜV Süd, assessed according to ISO 14021 and DIN standards. FAUN emphasizes that the results are based on measurable data and transparent methodologies. FAUN has been a manufacturer of refuse collection vehicles and sweepers since 1845.
