FAW Hongqi will begin pre-sale of its new full-size off-road SUV, the G919, on September 22. The vehicle features a body-on-frame structure and a range-extender powertrain.

FAW Hongqi, a Chinese automotive manufacturer, is scheduled to commence pre-sales for its new full-size off-road SUV, the G919, on September 22. The model, first disclosed in China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) vehicle application list in June, is positioned for the segment demanding significant off-road capabilities.
The G919 measures 5,135mm in length, 2,050mm in width, and 1,950mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900mm. The vehicle utilizes a body-on-frame construction, a design typically found in heavy-duty off-road vehicles, offering enhanced durability and ruggedness compared to unibody designs.
Regarding its powertrain, the G919 employs a range-extender system. The vehicle is expected to feature a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine coupled with a quad-motor setup. This combined system is reported to produce a total output of 620 kW and 1,320 Nm of torque, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 4.5 seconds.
Included features are designed to augment its off-road prowess, such as reinforced bumpers, tow hooks, and all-terrain tires. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a high-performance lidar unit and autonomous driving software, indicating integration of advanced driver-assistance technologies.
