FCL-X Fire & Safety Inc. has secured an Integrated Safety Purchase Order (ISPO) with Kia Georgia, Inc. for its West Point, Georgia facility. The agreement includes construction support and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) services, specifically for battery-related environments.
The company will provide risk assessment, fire protection engineering, and the implementation of safety protocols. This engagement supports Kia's focus on enhancing safety infrastructure as vehicle electrification and battery deployments increase.
FCL-X Fire & Safety, a manufacturer of lithium-ion battery fire safety products and services, views this contract as a significant commercial milestone. "This engagement with Kia Georgia is a significant validation of the direction we are taking FCL-X Fire & Safety," said CEO Carlos Vicens.
The demand for specialized lithium-ion battery fire protection is growing globally with the expansion of electric vehicles and battery energy storage. The U.S. NIST has estimated approximately 198,000 structure fires involving lithium-ion batteries in the United States since 2011, highlighting the emerging safety challenge.
