The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning concerning Crystal Temptations chocolate products. The reason is a hidden milk allergen not declared on the product packaging. Consumers with milk allergies or sensitivities are urged to destroy these items to prevent serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.
The recall affects Crystal Temptations' "Chocolatey Eyeballs," sold at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Homegoods, and Sierra Trading Post in 13 states. The product was distributed in various package sizes and with different style numbers. The company initiated the recall following a temporary breakdown in its production and packaging processes, which resulted in the milk-based ingredient, whey, not being properly labeled.
The FDA stated that no illnesses have been reported as of September 1. However, the agency emphasizes consumer safety and advises anyone who has purchased these chocolate products to destroy them immediately. Consumers are also encouraged to contact Crystal Temptations with proof of purchase for a refund. This recall does not impact other Crystal Temptations products or varieties.
