Federal Court Bans Bundy Baking Solutions From Selling Products Derived From Stolen Trade Secrets
A U.S. federal court has issued a permanent injunction blocking Bundy Baking Solutions from selling products based on proprietary technology stolen from Mallet & Company.

A federal district court in Pittsburgh has permanently prohibited Bundy Baking Solutions and its affiliate, Synova, from selling products derived from the misappropriation of trade secrets belonging to Mallet & Company. The order follows a 2025 jury verdict that found the companies engaged in willful and malicious theft of proprietary baking release agent formulas.
Chief Judge Cathy Bissoon has ordered Bundy and Synova to destroy all documentation referencing Mallet’s proprietary methods. The injunction grants Mallet audit rights for four years, allowing the company to inspect Bundy’s databases, email servers, and production records to ensure compliance. Additionally, Bundy must provide seven days' notice before hiring any former Mallet employees currently bound by non-compete agreements.
Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Synova leadership used fictitious email accounts to facilitate the theft of technical data. Bundy Baking has appealed the initial verdict, which has already led to more than $20 million in damages, fees, and costs ordered against them. The court retains jurisdiction to oversee the enforcement of these measures.
