FFG in Flensburg to Benefit from Multi-Million Euro German Army Order
The German Bundestag's budget committee has approved the purchase of approximately 300 transport armored vehicles. FFG will act as a subcontractor to the Finnish company Patria.
The Flensburg-based company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) is set to benefit from a significant order for the German Army, following parliamentary approval for around 300 transport armored vehicles.
The Bundestag's budget committee on Wednesday cleared the way for the procurement, with a total value potentially reaching up to 960 million euros. The contract has been awarded to the Finnish company Patria, with FFG slated to produce a substantial portion of the vehicles as a subcontractor.
FFG's specific involvement and the exact number of vehicles to be manufactured in Flensburg remain to be determined. These new vehicles are intended to replace the Bundeswehr's existing fleet of over 30 different variants of the Fuchs transport armored vehicle, aiming for a more streamlined vehicle pool.
Germany has placed a binding order for 230 vehicles, with an option for an additional 68. The development of this new vehicle type involved collaboration with other European nations, including Great Britain, Finland, and Denmark. This procurement is part of a broader modernization effort for Germany's defense capabilities.
