Fiber network expansion progresses in Steinbach-Hallenberg

The city of Steinbach-Hallenberg in Thuringia has initiated the construction of a fiber optic network in cooperation with Deutsche Glasfaser. The expansion will initially concentrate on the districts of Bermbach and Viernau, where sufficient demand has been confirmed.

Deutsche Glasfaser's preliminary market assessment indicated that the required subscriber threshold was not met in all districts. Consequently, the company has decided to proceed with a partial network rollout. Areas not included in the initial phase are Altersbach, Oberschönau, Rotterode, Steinbach-Hallenberg, Herges, and Unterschönau.

Lennart Götte, project manager at Deutsche Glasfaser, stated that a partial rollout is more economically viable and helps advance digitalization in rural areas. However, customers in the initially excluded districts can still sign up for contracts through Deutsche Glasfaser's website, by phone, mail, or via a local partner.

Steinbach-Hallenberg's mayor, Markus Böttcher, considers the project a success and emphasizes the importance of fiber optic connections for the city's future security, benefiting both residents and businesses. The next step involves informing residents who have opted for a Deutsche Glasfaser connection about the upcoming construction phases.
