Fibocom Launches RU311 5G RedCap Module Series for Mid-Tier IoT
Fibocom has launched its new RU311 5G RedCap module series, designed to facilitate 5G upgrades for mid-tier IoT applications. The new modules offer a cost-effective solution for industrial gateways, surveillance systems, and more.

Fibocom, a module manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China, has introduced its RU311 series of 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) modules. The new line aims to address the needs of mid-tier Internet of Things (IoT) devices that require enhanced connectivity without the full capabilities, or cost, of standard 5G.
The RU311 series is targeted at applications such as industrial gateways, security and surveillance systems, aftermarket automotive solutions, energy sector devices, and MiFi devices. These applications often prioritize stable and efficient communication over the highest possible bandwidth, making RedCap technology a suitable option.
5G RedCap technology is designed to offer improved performance over 4G LTE while consuming less power and incurring lower costs than full 5G modules. Fibocom states that the RU311 series will enable streamlined 5G upgrades for these device categories, potentially lowering the barrier to adopting newer network standards.
This launch positions Fibocom to compete in the growing market for IoT connectivity solutions. By offering RedCap modules, the company aims to provide scalable and economically viable options for a diverse range of industrial and commercial customers looking to enhance their IoT deployments with 5G capabilities.
