Figma Introduces Features to Define Agent Workflow
Design platform Figma has launched new features, including a Markdown-based editor and code layers, aimed at defining company design languages and streamlining workflows.

Figma, the design platform, has announced new features intended to better define how designers and AI agents interact with its system. These updates focus on establishing clearer design languages and integrating design assets more directly into development workflows.
A key release is Figma Specs, a Markdown editor that allows users to document their design system's guidelines and principles. This serves as a central reference point for teams and agents, ensuring adherence to brand standards during the creation process.
The Specs feature supports embedding various Figma elements, such as canvas objects, FigJam diagrams, and code snippets, creating a comprehensive documentation hub. This aims to centralize design system context, including design libraries and specific guidelines.
Additionally, Figma is launching its Code Layers feature in an open beta. This functionality seeks to bridge the gap between design and code implementation. The company is also integrating with the Payload headless CMS, facilitating smoother data flow for design assets across different systems.
