Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, has confirmed that the entire story for the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy will receive its complete conclusion within the base game itself. Players will not need to wait for downloadable content (DLC) to discover the final outcome of the trilogy.

Hamaguchi has previously stated that he will conclude his work on the Final Fantasy VII Remake project after the trilogy's completion. Recognizing the industry trend of extending narratives through DLC, he aimed to reassure players. Hamaguchi emphasized that Rebirth will not follow this pattern, instead offering a definitive conclusion within the game's existing structure.

In an interview with Japanese media, Hamaguchi acknowledged understanding players' desires for sequels and additional content. However, he stressed that no DLC plans have been confirmed at this time. Should future decisions lead to the release of additional content, it would likely focus on side stories or individual characters, similar to the previously released Yuffie-focused DLC, "EPISODE INTERMISSION."

The development goal is to provide a clear and complete conclusion to the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy with Rebirth. According to Hamaguchi, the development team is working to ensure all narrative threads are resolved within the base game, with the story's conclusion not being deferred to separate downloadable releases.
