Final Fantasy XIV to be Released on Nintendo Switch 2 in August
Square Enix has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy XIV will be released on August 4. The game will be available for pre-order starting today, with special introductory offers.
Square Enix announced at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest 2026 event in Berlin the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XIV for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game is scheduled to launch on August 4, with pre-orders beginning today, July 25.
The game will be offered in several editions. The Starter Edition is priced at $19.99. The Complete Edition will cost $59.99, but is available for pre-order at $41.99. A Complete Collector's Edition is also available for $139.99 ($97.99 pre-order). The "Golden Legacy" expansion will be sold separately for $39.99, with a Collector's Edition for $59.99.
To ensure server stability and game performance, all players will receive one month of free gameplay upon launch. Additionally, a free trial version of the game will be offered. Importantly, playing Final Fantasy XIV on the Nintendo Switch 2 will not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Following the initial free month, players will need to purchase a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 subscription to continue playing. Existing subscribers on other platforms will receive a 50% discount on the Nintendo Switch 2 subscription.
