Financial Expert Launches Gamified App for Business Owners
Ruth King has launched Hoot & Profit, an app designed to make financial tracking easier and habitual for business owners by gamifying the process.

Financial expert Ruth King has challenged the notion that financial statements cannot be made engaging. She has launched the new Hoot & Profit mobile application, designed to assist business owners in building better financial habits through small, manageable actions that gamify the process.
Hoot & Profit aims to transform financial education and awareness into a game. Users complete simple tasks such as checking their business bank accounts and tracking revenue-generating units. By completing these activities, they earn pellets to grow a virtual owlet, build streaks, and unlock rewards. The goal is to make reviewing financial information a routine without requiring users to become immediate financial experts.
King, also the founder of Financially Fit Business, observed over decades of experience that many business owners avoid their financial statements, finding them confusing or intimidating. "I wanted to find a way to change that," King stated. The app is developed to reduce the fear and discomfort associated with reviewing a company's financial data, while encouraging users to pay attention to these details daily.
The app's development involved over 948 financial questions and answers, crafted in clear and understandable language. King initially designed the app with service businesses, such as contractors and home service providers, in mind, but it can be used by business owners across all industries. "Business owners shouldn't need a finance degree to understand their own business," King remarked.
