Finanz Informatik to Modernize Banking Network Infrastructure

Finanz Informatik, the IT service provider for Germany's Sparkasse Financial Group, has launched the "Institutsnetz 2025+" initiative to modernize its network infrastructure. The project aims to meet the future technical needs of the Sparkasse Group, supporting hybrid work models, mobile services, and increasing security requirements.

Central to the upgrade is the enhancement of the Managed Service Network Access (MSNA) product, which will seamlessly integrate wired (LAN) and wireless (WLAN) networks. The new architecture will feature WiFi6 for improved real-time communication and mobile device connectivity. The network will automatically recognize devices and assign appropriate access rights, reducing manual configuration and complexity for users.

Additionally, the OSPlus-Netzwerk (OSPN) product is undergoing a significant transformation. A new OSPN hub will serve as a central data exchange point, securely connecting branches to Finanz Informatik's core systems and the internet. Mobile backup will be implemented at each branch to ensure network availability in case of primary connection failures. The new SD-WAN architecture is designed for flexible adaptation to evolving application and technology demands.

The "Institutsnetz 2025+" initiative addresses growing demands, including enhanced security mandated by regulations like DORA and NIS-2. The goal is to ensure the Sparkasse Group's operations remain efficient, secure, and reliable in an increasingly digital environment.
