Finlandia Hall Reopens with New Services After Renovation
Helsinki's iconic Finlandia Hall, designed by Alvar Aalto, will reopen in January 2025 following a three-year renovation. The venue now includes a design shop, cafe, and short-stay apartments.

Helsinki's Finlandia Hall, the iconic white marble venue designed by renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, will reopen in January 2025 after a comprehensive three-year renovation. The building, a cornerstone of the city's cultural and conference scene since 1971, will offer expanded services alongside its restored architectural features.
Managed by CEO Johanna Tolonen for the past 12 years, Finlandia Hall has hosted significant global events, including the 2018 Trump-Putin summit, which earned the venue recognition as the world's best event center. The recent renovation aims to enhance the visitor experience and modernize the facilities while preserving Aalto's original design vision.
New additions to Finlandia Hall include a design shop, a wine café, and a bistro. Furthermore, the venue introduces two apartments available for short stays, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the building's atmosphere. An exhibition dedicated to Alvar Aalto and Finland is also slated to open in the summer of 2025.
The renovation also prioritized sustainability. Finlandia Hall was the first conference center in Europe to install solar panels. The venue has also significantly reduced food waste by 60% by shifting from buffet service to plated meals.
Located on the shores of Töölönlahti Bay, Finlandia Hall remains a central hub for both cultural events and international conferences, offering a blend of design, history, and accessibility within Helsinki.
