Finnfund invests in Moroccan healthcare group CIM Santé

OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I, the first Finnish impact fund focused on global emerging markets, has invested USD 10 million in the capital of CIM Santé Group, a leading Moroccan healthcare provider. The investment is intended to foster the development of the healthcare sector in Morocco, improve access to quality care, and support gender equality within the sector.

Founded in 1994 by Professor Assad Chaara, CIM Santé Group has a strong focus on cardiology. The group currently operates three clinics in Rabat, Marrakech, and Tangier, with a total of 320 beds. CIM Santé also operates radiology centers and laundry and service companies.

In 2020, CIM Santé and its 360 employees treated approximately 50,000 patients. With financing from OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I and Vantage Capital, CIM Santé plans to expand its flagship clinic in Marrakech and extend its operations to Casablanca to meet growing demand. The group intends to further strengthen its market position in Morocco and expand into other African markets.

The investment aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal for health and well-being. Morocco faces limited healthcare resources but aims to expand national health insurance coverage, creating a need for accessible, quality healthcare services through public-private partnerships. CIM Santé also demonstrates a commitment to gender equality, with women comprising nearly 70% of its workforce and holding significant leadership positions.
