Finnish Defence Sector Targets Significant Expansion by 2030
Finland’s defence industry aims to triple its revenue to €12 billion by 2030, supported by international export programs and increased industrial collaboration.

The Finnish defence sector reported a turnover of over €4 billion last year, representing a 40% growth. Industry associations are now targeting €12 billion in revenue by 2030, a move expected to significantly boost direct and indirect employment figures across the country.
Patria, a key player in the sector, is driving much of this growth through the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program. According to executive Jussi Järvinen, the model relies on local production in customer countries, which secures supply chains while keeping core design and lifecycle maintenance in Finland. The program currently spans seven nations, establishing long-term military interoperability.
Despite positive momentum, industry leaders warn that bureaucratic hurdles, such as slow factory permitting and limited export promotion resources, pose risks to future expansion. Experts argue that to remain competitive, Finland must expedite procurement cycles and align government support more closely with the rapidly shifting needs of the international defence market.
