Finnish Immigration Service selects Digia for specialist and support services
The Finnish Immigration Service has contracted Digia for specialist and support services for its digital immigration case management system (UMA). The three-year framework agreement is valued at EUR 5–10 million.

Helsinki – The Finnish Immigration Service has chosen Digia Oyj as its partner for specialist and support services related to the digital immigration case management system (UMA). The three-year framework agreement is valued at EUR 5–10 million.
Digia's responsibilities will include system maintenance and development, encompassing IT security solutions, architectural renewal, and service migration. In addition to the Finnish Immigration Service, the UMA system is also utilized by other authorities such as the police, the Finnish Border Guard, and Finnish missions in processing immigration-related permit decisions.
Tarmo Jukarainen, CIO of the Finnish Immigration Service, highlighted the importance of the competitive tender for developing a key information management tool. Janne Tuominen, Senior Vice President at Digia, expressed satisfaction with the commencement of cooperation and the opportunity to support the agency's transformation journey towards more user-friendly and cost-effective services.
Digia stated that its experience with socially significant organizations positions it well to support the Finnish Immigration Service in its multi-level change project, aiming to enhance productivity and effectively leverage digital capabilities. The agreement emphasizes the creation of modern, flexibly adaptable, and maintainable systems to meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders.
