Fintech Firm AhaPay Expands QR Network Through Share Commerce Partnership

Malaysian fintech firm AhaPay announced a partnership with digital payments provider Share Commerce, aiming to broaden the acceptance of its buy now, pay later (BNPL) services. The collaboration will integrate AhaPay's BNPL solution across Share Commerce's network of over 5,000 merchant terminals nationwide, utilizing dynamic QR codes.

AhaPay, part of the fintech holding Fingular, stated that the partnership will allow existing merchants to accept AhaPay payments without requiring new hardware. This move is expected to enhance AhaPay's reach within Malaysia's burgeoning BNPL market, providing consumers with more payment options.

The integration is also intended to facilitate deeper data integration for AhaPay, which could enable automated pre-approvals for credit for repeat customers across Share Commerce's network. Such advancements could streamline the customer onboarding process and improve risk management for the fintech provider.

The expansion comes as Bank Negara Malaysia, the country's central bank, has issued guidance on Sharia-compliant BNPL services. The central bank has also identified DuitNow QR as a key component of Malaysia's digital payment infrastructure. AhaPay's strategic partnership aligns with these national objectives to advance digital payment adoption.
