Firefox 153 to Support HDR Video Playback on Windows 10 and 11
Mozilla's upcoming Firefox version 153, slated for release on July 21, will introduce support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) video playback for Windows 10 and Windows 11 users.

Mozilla announced that Firefox version 153, scheduled for release on July 21, will enable High Dynamic Range (HDR) video playback for users on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
The feature will initially be available on systems configured with an AMD CPU and an Nvidia GPU. However, support is currently not extended to laptops using Intel CPUs paired with Nvidia GPUs. Mozilla stated efforts are underway to broaden compatibility with additional GPU manufacturers in future releases.
Users intending to utilize HDR playback must ensure that HDR mode is enabled in their display settings within Windows. Mozilla acknowledged that the brightness of HDR videos in Firefox may currently exceed that of other browsers, with plans to refine this aspect and optimize performance in upcoming versions.
The development for Windows HDR video support began with Firefox Nightly version 148. Firefox on macOS already supports HDR video playback. Mozilla's current focus is on regular video playback and DRM-protected content, with future plans to incorporate Canvas2D, WebGL, and WebGPU video input paths.
