Firmware Update Bricks Samsung Smart Fridges
Samsung smart refrigerators stopped functioning on Tuesday following a firmware update. The issue, affecting the Bespoke AI line, caused devices to lose power and display error messages.

Multiple Samsung Bespoke AI smart refrigerators ceased functioning on Tuesday after a problematic firmware update. The issue emerged as users attempted to install an update via Samsung's SmartThings smart home platform.
Reports indicate the problem primarily affects four-door refrigerators from the Bespoke AI line, manufactured in 2024 or later. Following the attempted update, affected fridges reportedly lost power and stopped working immediately. The SmartThings app then showed the devices as offline, with some users reporting their fridge's internal display stuck on the message "Checking SmartThings app during update."
Samsung has not yet issued a public statement or offered a solution for the affected units. This incident highlights the potential risks associated with automated firmware updates for connected appliances and the dependency on stable software for basic functionality.
