First "Deathline" reported for Steam Machine game console
The first reported instance of a "Red Line of Death" (RLOD) has been identified in a Steam Machine game console. The fault occurs approximately 20 minutes after startup and indicates a graphics processing unit (GPU) failure.

A Steam Machine game console has reportedly experienced the first global "Red Line of Death" (RLOD) hardware failure. The issue surfaces about 20 minutes into operation, indicating a failure in the graphics processing unit (GPU) that prevents the console from booting correctly.
The Red Line of Death is a visual alert system engineered by Valve to signal hardware malfunctions. A red vertical line displayed on the console indicates the type and location of the hardware fault.
Tech publication Wccftech reported on the incident on July 3rd. The problem was brought to light through a Reddit post by user "u/me_hill", who detailed the appearance of the RLOD error.
It remains unclear how widespread this issue might be. While it could be an isolated incident, there is a possibility that early production units may have been affected by hardware defects.
