First Nursing Graduates from Kosovo Complete Training in Brandenburg
Ten individuals trained as nurses at Johanniter's school in Treuenbrietzen have completed their education. The program is part of a pilot initiative to recruit healthcare professionals.
Treuenbrietzen, Germany – Johanniter's nursing school in Treuenbrietzen celebrated the graduation of its first cohort of trainees recruited from Kosovo. Ten individuals, nine women and one man, have successfully completed their three-year training to become certified nurses. Four other trainees will extend their education until early 2027 due to personal reasons.
The graduation ceremony featured bilingual elements in German and Albanian, reflecting the international nature of the program. Attendees included representatives from the Brandenburg Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and guests from Pristina, Kosovo. This initiative is part of a pilot project funded to attract nursing trainees from Kosovo. The German partner agency, Adlermanagment, was also present.
Three years ago, the Johanniter nursing school in Treuenbrietzen became the first in the state of Brandenburg to admit four young individuals from Kosovo for vocational training. Six of the new graduates are set to join the nursing staff at Johanniter's clinics in Treuenbrietzen starting October 1.
"You have supported your children and loved ones on a path that involved significant changes for everyone involved," said Oberin Una Kniebusch in her address, specifically thanking the families. "You encouraged them to leave their familiar surroundings, potentially move to another country, and build a professional future there. You gave them courage, trust, and urged them to take this big step." The top three graduates were honored with awards.
The school has already filled 23 training positions for the upcoming academic year and continues to accept applications for future training intakes.
