Five Advertising Conglomerates Join Publicis in Cancer Stigma Initiative

Major advertising groups Edelman, IPG, Omnicom, and WPP have joined Publicis Groupe to support the Working with Cancer initiative. Together, they are inviting creative professionals from across the industry to participate in a campaign design competition aimed at removing the stigma and insecurity associated with cancer in the workplace.

The competition, announced at Cannes Lions, offers participants the opportunity to create a campaign that will run globally on World Cancer Day 2024 with a $100 million media budget. The brief, titled 'The Big C,' will be presented on June 22 in the Lumiere theatre at the Cannes Lions festival.

The Working with Cancer initiative, initially launched by Publicis Groupe, has already received recognition, including the Lions Health Grand Prix for Good award in Cannes. It has evolved into a significant cross-industry coalition involving over 600 companies and impacting up to 20 million employees, with the goal of fostering an open and supportive environment for those affected by cancer and their recovery.

The competition jury will comprise senior creative leaders from the five supporting conglomerates. Entries will be judged in October, with the winner announced at the end of the month. The initiative aims to transform workplace culture and promote recovery-forward environments globally.
