Fiverr Study: Quick Response Significantly Increases Hiring Chances
Research conducted on the Fiverr platform reveals that job seekers' response times significantly influence employers' hiring decisions. Delays can reduce opportunities by up to 90%.

New research published in the journal Management Science has analyzed over 11 million transactions on Fiverr, an online freelance marketplace. The study identified a clear correlation between how quickly job seekers respond to initial inquiries and an employer's ultimate hiring decision.
Researchers found that even a one-hour delay in responding could decrease a candidate's chances of being hired by an average of 46%. The longer a job seeker waited to reply, the less likely they were to secure the position. This indicates that promptly acknowledging and responding to employer outreach is crucial.
While employers traditionally focus on resumes, experience, and academic qualifications, this study highlights response speed as a significant, albeit often unstated, metric in the selection process. This factor may influence how effectively a candidate is perceived.
When freelancers waited 24 hours or more to respond, their likelihood of winning the job dropped by 90% compared to those who replied immediately. This underscores the importance of prompt communication in competitive freelance markets.
