Flexport Integrates AI Tools for E-Commerce Shipping Management
Logistics company Flexport has introduced new AI tools leveraging large language models like ChatGPT to assist businesses with shipment booking, customs clearance, and route monitoring.

Global logistics provider Flexport has launched new artificial intelligence tools designed to streamline e-commerce supply chain management. The updated features allow clients to book and track shipments directly through AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude. The tools also offer assistance with complex customs documentation and the identification of potential shipping disruptions.
Flexport serves over 13,000 companies worldwide across industries including apparel, beauty, and home goods. The company states that 70 percent of its clientele are small businesses. These new AI integrations aim to reduce the operational burdens and costs associated with managing shipping processes, helping to mitigate delays and maintain product availability amidst market volatility.
Businesses can now connect their own or third-party AI assistants, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot, to Flexport's platform. The company's Model Context Protocol acts as the connective layer, enabling customers to request quotes, book freight, and receive tracking updates by interacting with their chosen AI agent. This is intended to reduce manual administrative tasks for smaller businesses.
Flexport has also enhanced its customs software with new AI capabilities. These features assist importers in selecting appropriate tariff codes and ensure documentation compliance before filing. The company indicates these tools are designed to lower both freight costs and overall supply chain expenses.
