Flexsteel Unveils Next Generation of Blue Steel Spring Technology
Furniture maker Flexsteel has introduced SixFlex™, the sixth generation of its patented Blue Steel Spring™ technology, promising enhanced comfort and responsiveness.
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Furniture manufacturer Flexsteel announced on October 14, 2026, the launch of SixFlex™, the sixth generation of its patented Blue Steel Spring™ technology. The company states the new system is designed for a softer, more responsive seating experience while maintaining its characteristic durability.
SixFlex™ builds upon more than 130 years of comfort innovation. Flexsteel, originally Rolph & Ball Furniture Company established in 1893, has a history of patenting and refining its internal spring systems. The original Blue Steel Spring™ was introduced in the 1920s, becoming a cornerstone of the company's brand identity.
"SixFlex™ is a significant milestone for Flexsteel and the next evolution of our Blue Steel Spring™," said David Crimmins, Chief Growth Officer at Flexsteel Industries. He noted that the development involved the most extensive consumer research the company has ever conducted for a spring technology.
The new system is engineered to engage faster and contour to the body, offering enhanced comfort and support. Flexsteel reports that SixFlex™ has undergone rigorous testing and demonstrates durability comparable to previous generations. New Flexsteel seating collections featuring SixFlex™ are slated to appear in 2027.
