Flightright: Vaccine and Test Mandates Could Revitalize Air Travel

Flightright, a platform specializing in air passenger rights, has proposed that the implementation of vaccine and testing mandates could help restore confidence in air travel and thereby revitalize the industry.

The company noted that the travel and airline sectors continue to suffer significant losses due to the pandemic, with many travelers avoiding flights due to infection concerns. Flightright suggests that a testing requirement before flying could help rebuild passenger trust in the safety of air travel.

"If all passengers are tested before a flight, it helps restore confidence in the safety of flight operations," said Philipp Kadelbach, founder of Flightright. "As a consumer platform, we primarily consider consumer interests, and safe travel and flying are paramount. Therefore, we find a testing requirement appropriate in the current situation, with costs for rapid tests at airports potentially included in the ticket price."

Looking ahead, with vaccine development progressing, airlines are considering vaccine requirements. Emirates has already vaccinated its entire flight crew. Flightright supports measures deemed necessary for the recovery of the aviation and travel industry, including the potential introduction of vaccine mandates. The company emphasizes that passenger numbers can only return to previous levels when infection rates decrease and unrestricted travel becomes possible.
