Flipkart Acquires Minority Stake in Travel Tech Firm TravClan
E-commerce major Flipkart has acquired a minority stake in B2B travel tech platform TravClan as it seeks to bolster its international travel offerings.
Indian e-commerce company Flipkart has acquired a minority stake in business-to-business travel technology platform TravClan. The move is aimed at strengthening Flipkart's international travel services, which are offered through its subsidiaries Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The investment grants Flipkart access to TravClan's B2B platform, global supplier network, and destination capabilities, including on-ground support for travelers. This is expected to enable Flipkart to offer a wider range of travel products via its main e-commerce app.
Flipkart has been diversifying its business, recently entering the micro-drama market and reportedly piloting a food delivery service. The company is also said to be exploring entry into the live events and ticketing market.
TravClan intends to use the capital for expanding its global supply, technology, and destination services. The company's tech stack is currently utilized by 15,000 travel agents for customizing and booking travel packages.
