Flipkart Ads Boost Walmart's Global Advertising Business in Q2
Walmart reported a 38% rise in its global advertising business for the second quarter, with strong performance from India's Flipkart Ads contributing significantly.

Global retail giant Walmart announced that its Indian e-commerce arm, Flipkart's advertising vertical, was a key driver of its global advertising business growth in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027.
Walmart's advertising business saw a 38% increase overall during the quarter. The company highlighted Flipkart Ads as a significant contributor to this expansion, though specific figures for Flipkart's ad revenue were not disclosed. This growth occurred alongside a 12.8% rise in Walmart International's net sales, reaching $35.2 billion.
E-commerce sales within Walmart International also performed strongly, increasing by 19% during the period, bolstered by marketplace and store-fulfilled delivery options. The company's operating income saw a notable increase of 28.8%, largely attributed to its operations in China and India.
Looking ahead, Walmart anticipates a headwind for its third-quarter growth, projecting a reduction of over 100 basis points due to the timing shift of Flipkart's major 'Big Billion Days' sales event between the third and fourth quarters.
In other developments, Flipkart is expanding its business beyond e-commerce and quick commerce. The company plans to launch a food delivery service in the coming weeks and is extending its quick commerce offering into premium grocery products. Flipkart has also postponed its initial public offering plans, prioritizing profitability improvements.
