Flipkart-backed super.money losses widen as marketing spend climbs

The Flipkart-supported UPI app, super.money, saw its operating revenue reach Rs 292.4 crore in FY26, a threefold increase from the previous year. The growth was primarily driven by its loan marketplace business, which accounted for Rs 247.8 crore, or roughly 85% of total revenue.

However, the company’s expansion efforts resulted in a net loss of Rs 263.8 crore, up from Rs 147.8 crore in the prior fiscal year. Total expenses surged 130% to Rs 557.1 crore, with business promotion costs rising to Rs 341 crore as the firm sought to increase its market share in the competitive Indian UPI landscape. Personnel expenses, including employee stock options, contributed an additional Rs 138.1 crore to the cost base.

Since its 2024 launch, super.money has processed over 400 million transactions monthly. The firm expanded its credit offerings through the acquisition of fintech startup BharatX, allowing it to integrate BNPL services and consumer loans. Market reports indicate the company may be exploring a move into stock broking, though no official plans have been confirmed.

The entity has been integrated into Flipkart Internet as part of a broader restructuring effort within the Flipkart Group, which is positioning its various subsidiaries ahead of a potential initial public offering.
