Flipkart has removed commission charges on all fashion products sold through its platform, regardless of their price point. Previously, this zero-commission policy applied only to fashion items priced below 1,000 Indian rupees (approximately $12 USD).

The move is expected to benefit approximately 90,000 transacting sellers, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), homegrown direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands, and emerging designers. These sellers will no longer pay commissions to Flipkart on fashion sales.

Flipkart states the expansion aims to help sellers improve their profit margins and broaden their product selections. For consumers, the company anticipates this will translate to better value and a wider array of choices across various price segments.

The e-commerce landscape in India is competitive, with rivals also implementing similar strategies. Meesho was an early mover, introducing zero commission for all sellers in 2021. More recently, Amazon announced in March 2026 a waiver of referral fees for products priced under 1,000 rupees.
