Flix Buses Can Reduce CO2 Emissions Up to 83% Compared to Personal Cars
On World Car Free Day, Flix highlights that bus travel in Europe can reduce individual carbon footprints by up to 83% compared to using personal cars.

On World Car Free Day, September 22, 2025, Flix Mobility has emphasized the impact of travel choices on reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
The company states that in Europe, traveling by bus instead of a personal car can lower a passenger's carbon footprint by up to 83%. For instance, on a trip from Paris to Madrid, a single passenger in a car produces approximately 207 kg of CO2, whereas the equivalent emission by bus is only 36 kg. In 2024, Flix customers worldwide saved an estimated 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 by choosing the company's mobility services over planes and cars.
Flix also notes that one coach can replace an average of 30 private cars on the road. This not only reduces emissions but also alleviates traffic congestion and noise, offering direct benefits to local communities.
Company CEO André Schwämmlein stressed that sustainability should not be a privilege for the few but must be combinable with affordability. For over a decade, Flix has strived to prove that this combination is feasible.
According to the company, the low emissions per passenger-kilometer are achieved with modern coaches compliant with the Euro 6 standard. Flix is also actively exploring various alternative fuels and drivetrains with some partners. Concurrently, the company emphasizes the importance of adequate and safe bus stop infrastructure to promote collective travel.
