Flix Launches Bus Operations in Chile

Travel technology provider Flix has launched its bus operations in Chile, with services beginning on October 5, 2023. This expansion marks a significant step for the company, bringing its global footprint to 42 countries across four continents. Flix aims to revitalize the local travel market through digitalization, competitive pricing, and robust safety standards.

Initially, Flix buses will connect Santiago with Viña del Mar, San Antonio, and Coquimbo. The company plans to further expand its routes to the central and southern regions of the country in the coming months. Flix is utilizing local bus partners for operations, consistent with its asset-light business model.

Flix CEO André Schwämmlein expressed enthusiasm for Chile joining the network. "Our mission is to provide sustainable and affordable travel options for everyone, and we see significant demand for such services in Chile," Schwämmlein stated. He emphasized the company's commitment to delivering consistent quality, safety, and a seamless customer experience.

The Chilean intercity travel market has reportedly seen reduced demand and increased individual car usage in recent years, partly due to pandemic effects and rising collective transport costs. Flix aims to reverse this trend with its offering. The Chilean launch is part of Flix's ongoing strategy for profitable global growth.
