FlixMobility, known for its FlixBus service, is entering the rail market in Germany with the launch of FlixTrain. The first long-distance train commenced scheduled service on March 24, 2018, operating between Hamburg and Cologne, running daily except for Wednesdays.

The new train routes connect multiple cities across five German states. By mid-April, FlixTrain will serve 28 destinations, including Berlin, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, and Hannover. The service aims to provide affordable travel options, with tickets starting at €9.99. The company highlighted the trains as a greener option.

FlixMobility is employing a similar business model to FlixBus, partnering with traditional rail operators. The initial FlixTrain partner is BTE (BahnTouristikExpress) from Nuremberg. The company stated it will integrate its bus and train networks to create new travel opportunities and encourage more people to use public transport over cars.

FlixMobility has announced continued network expansion in Germany and Europe for 2018. Additionally, the company plans to launch bus services in the United States in summer 2018 and is developing new features such as seat reservations and digital services within the FlixBus app.
