Global travel company Flix and the international non-profit organization DKMS have initiated a partnership aimed at raising awareness and boosting stem cell donor registrations. The collaboration seeks to make the registration process as accessible as possible for potential donors.

The initiative, named "Your journey could save a life," allows travelers on FlixBus and FlixTrain services in Germany, Poland, Chile, the United Kingdom, and the United States to register as potential stem cell donors. Through onboard Wi-Fi, passengers are directed to a dedicated landing page for a simplified registration process.

DKMS works globally to diversify the donor pool, as a significant percentage of patients with blood cancer or disorders rely on unrelated donors for transplants. A lack of diversity in registries can leave many patients without a suitable match.

"This collaboration shows how technology, mobility and purpose can come together. Flix connects people every day across borders, and now we’re helping connect potential lifesavers with patients around the world," stated André Schwämmlein, CEO of Flix. Elke Neujahr, Global CEO of DKMS, added that the partnership transforms travel into meaningful impact by reaching people in everyday moments.
