The legal motion is part of a civil lawsuit filed in June, which claimed ChatGPT posed a "threat to the public safety of Floridians," particularly by preying on vulnerable populations like children and individuals with delusions.
This action follows recent industry-wide concerns and calls to slow down the development of advanced AI models, spurred by security incidents and publicized warnings about misalignment risks.
OpenAI recently announced it had paused training of its "most-capable models" pending validation of safety protocols. However, Florida contends that OpenAI has "repeatedly shown they are incapable of monitoring their AI, and hesitant in revealing rogue activity once discovered," seeking immediate court intervention.
