Florida Southern College Names ROTC Building After Lt. Gen. Donald L. Kerrick

Florida Southern College has named its Army ROTC building after distinguished alumnus Lt. Gen. Donald L. Kerrick, recognizing his significant financial contribution to the program. The dedication ceremony took place on Friday, October 16, coinciding with the second annual Lt. Gen. Donald L. Kerrick JROTC Raider Competition held on Saturday.

Kerrick's generous gift supports substantial renovations and equipment upgrades for Florida Southern's Army ROTC Moccasin Battalion. This investment aims to enhance training facilities and resources for future military officers and leaders, leading to the facility being named the Lt. Gen. Donald L. Kerrick Building.

A 1971 graduate of Florida Southern College, Kerrick had a distinguished military career that included combat assignments and senior leadership roles in military and national security operations. He also served as Deputy National Security Advisor to the President of the United States and was involved in negotiating the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The competition on Saturday brings together 22 high school JROTC teams from across Florida to compete in five challenges testing physical endurance, discipline, leadership, and teamwork. The event also serves to introduce cadets to the educational and leadership opportunities available through Florida Southern's Army ROTC program.
