FMC Corporation Submits Dossier for Novel Herbicide in Brazil
Agricultural sciences company FMC Corporation has filed a regulatory dossier for its new dual mode of action herbicide, rimisoxafen, with Brazilian authorities. This marks the second global submission for the product.
FMC Corporation, a global agricultural sciences company, has submitted a regulatory dossier for its new herbicide, rimisoxafen, to Brazilian authorities. This submission represents the second global regulatory filing for rimisoxafen, which FMC describes as the first and only dual mode of action herbicide. The company previously filed with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in July 2026.
Brazil is a major global market for soybeans and corn, with approximately 70 million hectares under production. Farmers in the region face increasing pressure from herbicide-resistant broadleaf weeds, including Amaranthus hybridus and Amaranthus palmeri, which threaten crop productivity.
Rimisoxafen is designed to offer growers a new tool to diversify weed management programs and support long-term resistance management. In extensive field testing, the product demonstrated consistent activity against small-seeded broadleaf weeds and those resistant to other herbicides, according to FMC.
This filing is FMC's third novel herbicide active ingredient to advance to regulatory submission in Brazil, following Isoflex and Dodhylex. Approval and market availability in Brazil are subject to regulatory review and authorization.
