FOBA Laser Marking Applies Production Data Inside Bottle Caps

FOBA Laser Marking + Engraving, formerly known as ALLTEC Angewandte Laserlicht Technologie GmbH, is applying laser technology to mark information on the interior surfaces of bottle caps. This capability allows for the application of production data or codes for promotional activities, such as sweepstakes.

The process involves ablating a paint layer through a color change method. The illustrated crown caps were marked using either a 100-watt fiber laser or a 60-watt CO2 laser, targeting the colored, paint-coated area on the inside of the cap.

For caps made of plastic, or those with plastic inner coatings, UV or CO2 laser marking systems are employed. Regardless of the laser type, the resulting marks are described as sharp, food-safe, durable, and tamper-proof, offering a permanent identification solution.

Bottle cap marking typically occurs at high speeds on a continuous production line using a "marking-on-the-fly" technique. Integrating the laser marking system with a production data environment enables continuous application of serial characters, numbers, or codes. This ensures efficient and precise traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
