FocalPoint and STMicroelectronics Formalize Partnership for Enhanced Automotive GNSS Reliability
UK-based FocalPoint and semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics have signed a commercial agreement to improve the reliability of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in vehicles. The collaboration aims to boost positioning accuracy in challenging signal environments.

FocalPoint, a UK-based provider of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) software for automotive applications, and STMicroelectronics, a semiconductor manufacturer, announced a commercial agreement on July 14, 2026. The partnership aims to enhance vehicle positioning reliability in difficult GNSS environments.
The agreement integrates FocalPoint's S-GNSS® Auto software with STMicroelectronics' Teseo hardware. This combined solution is designed to improve position accuracy, particularly in urban canyons and under tree cover, where traditional GNSS signals often struggle. The offering is presented as a straightforward firmware upgrade for Teseo devices.
FocalPoint stated that its patented Supercorrelation® technology delivers improved accuracy in multipath conditions and degraded signal environments. Recent tests reportedly showed S-GNSS® Auto on Teseo devices outperforming standard off-the-shelf solutions. The companies anticipate the solution enabling automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers to achieve enhanced positioning accuracy cost-effectively.
Both companies see the collaboration as a step towards enabling safer autonomous vehicles and improving everyday navigation. FocalPoint CEO Scott Pomerantz highlighted that the partnership addresses GNSS reliability issues faced by OEMs developing Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). STMicroelectronics indicated that the Teseo platform's flexibility, combined with FocalPoint's technology, allows them to offer enhanced performance and a competitive edge to their customers.
