Focus on Energy Marks 25 Years, Honors Energy Efficiency Champions

Focus on Energy, a Wisconsin-based energy efficiency program, marked its 25th anniversary on Tuesday with an awards ceremony at the Wisconsin State Capitol. The program has assisted residents and businesses in saving energy and money for a quarter-century.

During the event, four Energy Efficiency Champions were honored for their significant contributions to advancing energy efficiency across the state. Governor Tony Evers attended to commend the recipients, highlighting the importance of energy savings for households, schools, and businesses.

"Energy efficiency does not always come with a big ribbon cutting. [...] But the results are noticeable: a home that feels warmer in January, a school with brighter classrooms, a business with lower costs," Governor Evers stated. He emphasized Focus on Energy's role in turning good ideas into tangible savings.

Among the honorees were the School District of La Crosse, which has avoided over $10 million in energy costs since 2006, and On Site Performance Testing, a family-owned business assisting homeowners. David Leeder was recognized for 40 years of advancing energy efficiency in the paper industry, and the Kwik Trip convenience store chain was honored for completing over 1,000 energy efficiency projects.

Public Service Commission Chairperson Summer Strand presented Governor Evers with an Energy Efficiency Champion Award in recognition of his support for the Focus on Energy program. The governor's administration aims to expand the program's efforts as part of its Clean Energy Plan.
