Food Delivery Firm Swish Raises $24 Million Amid Competitor Exits

Indian quick food delivery startup Swish has raised $24 million in funding, less than six months after its previous $38 million round. This new capital injection comes at a time when numerous competitors have exited or scaled back their rapid food delivery operations in India.

Companies such as Zomato, Swiggy, Rebel Foods, and Zing have all either reduced operations or shut down entirely in the quick food delivery segment over recent years. Zepto Cafe has reduced its footprint, Eternal's Zomato closed its Quick and Everyday services, Swiggy shut down Snacc, and Zing ceased operations. Swish appears to be the sole remaining significant player in this specific market niche.

Founded in late 2024, Swish operates a distinct model compared to traditional food delivery aggregators. The company owns its kitchens, prepares the food in-house, and manages its own delivery fleet. Its kitchens are positioned close to customers, typically within a 1 km radius, enabling rapid delivery times. Swish currently processes over 1 million orders monthly across 50 pin codes in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR, with over 80% of deliveries completed within 15 minutes.

The latest funding is intended to fuel Swish's expansion strategy. The company aims to broaden its kitchen network in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR, setting an ambitious target of establishing over 1,000 kitchens within the next five years. Despite the struggles of more heavily funded entities in this space, Swish seeks to demonstrate the viability of its integrated model.
