Ford introduces privacy initiative regarding vehicle data collection
Ford has launched a new privacy initiative and informational portal to address customer concerns over how connected vehicle data is collected and utilized.

Ford has unveiled an initiative dubbed a “privacy promise” to outline its internal standards for handling vehicle data. The automaker launched a dedicated portal to explain the rationale behind data collection and to provide users with tools to manage their personal privacy settings.
The move comes as the company prepares for the release of its next generation of connected vehicles, built on an upcoming electric vehicle platform. As automotive software continues to evolve toward higher levels of connectivity, Ford is positioning this transparency effort as a way to bridge the gap between complex data collection practices and customer awareness.
Ford’s Chief Privacy Officer Kristin Jones stated that the company aims to provide clarity on its data practices. While consumers increasingly demand features like remote connectivity and advanced driver-assistance systems, industry polling suggests a significant portion of the public remains uninformed about the data flows supporting these services.
