Ford has officially released the Mustang Dark Horse SC convertible, a new open-top variant of its performance model. The launch follows the hardtop version by seven months and aims to establish the car as the "ultimate convertible GT vehicle."

The Dark Horse SC emphasizes a balance between performance and comfort, with a specially tuned MagneRide suspension system geared towards road driving rather than track-focused lap times. The core mechanical components remain largely unchanged from the coupe.

Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that produces 795 horsepower and 894 Nm of torque. This is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. With the soft top down, occupants can experience the V8 engine's sound more directly.

Interior features include Onyx Black and Space Gray color options, leather seats, and carbon fiber trim. The convertible is expected to retain features from the hardtop, such as a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch infotainment system, along with Brembo brakes and 20-inch wheels.

Ford plans to open orders for the Mustang Dark Horse SC convertible in the fall, with deliveries scheduled to begin in spring 2027. Pricing information has not yet been released, but the hardtop version starts at $106,090.
