Ford Leverages 5.2 Million Connected Work Vehicles for Data Insights

As artificial intelligence and agentic technologies become more prevalent in the automotive sector, Ford is expanding its commercial division, Ford Pro. The company now offers fleet management, logistics, and digital solutions that leverage vehicle data and in-house developed AI.

"For over 120 years, we’ve been dedicated to designing vehicles for commercial use," said Alicia Boler Davis, President of Ford Pro. "Today, we offer businesses more than just the powertrain." Ford Pro aims to integrate vehicles, financing, and services into a cohesive ecosystem to help businesses improve productivity.

The number of Ford Pro connected commercial vehicles has grown by more than 40 percent since 2023, with 5.2 million vehicles now in operation globally. These vehicles generate valuable data, including location, mileage, vehicle health, and usage patterns. The Ford Pro Intelligence cloud platform aggregates this data from vehicle components, sensors, cameras, and charging equipment, providing a comprehensive overview of fleet operations.

"This vehicle data integrates seamlessly into our suite of digital solutions, helping businesses track work vehicles, monitor their health and fuel usage, support driver coaching, and get ahead of maintenance needs," Boler Davis explained.

Ford is competing in this AI-driven vehicle intelligence market against established manufacturers like General Motors, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Mercedes-Benz, as well as newer entrants like Tesla and technology firms such as NVIDIA and Qualcomm. Market demand for these AI vehicle solutions comes from sectors including small and medium-sized businesses, logistics, and automotive repair and maintenance.
