Ford Transit City electric van begins production in China for Europe
Ford's new all-electric Transit City commercial van has begun production at Jiangling Motors' plant in Nanchang, China. Approximately 1,000 vehicles are slated for export to Europe.
Ford's new all-electric Transit City commercial van has commenced production at Jiangling Motors' Xiaolan plant in Nanchang, China. The initial batch of about 1,000 vehicles is designated for shipment to European markets.
This model marks Ford China's first battery-electric commercial vehicle intended for developed markets, including Europe. The van was jointly developed by Ford China, Ford's global engineering teams, and Jiangling Motors.
The Transit City is equipped with a 56-kilowatt-hour LFP battery and a 110-kilowatt front motor. The manufacturer claims a WLTP driving range of up to 254 kilometers and a payload capacity of up to 1,600 kilograms.
European orders opened in the second quarter, with first deliveries anticipated by the end of the year.
